Bubblegum gin, eh? I've tried all sorts of weird and wonderful flavours in my life, but this certainly seems like one of the most peculiar. Personally, I've never been a fan of bubblegum flavours in anything that isn't bubblegum - you won't see me queueing up for some bubblegum ice cream, that's for sure. Nethertheless, I went into this with an open mind, because when it comes to gin you can never be too sure of whether or not a weird innovation will work. Who could've seen cucumber gins becoming so popular today?

And, of course, I was pleasantly surprised. The simple design of the bottle belied a complex-tasting sweet gin - you could almost consider this to be a dessert. Of course, as was to be expected from a "bubblegum" gin, bubblegum flavour permeate this gin but, shockingly, isn't overpowering, which is one of the reasons why I don't care for most bubblegum flavours. Instead, it sits in almost perfect harmony with strawberry and citrusy notes - and somehow the classic juniper sweetness also makes an appearance, something which is often absent from these sweet gins.

I enjoyed mine straight, but it's also recommended as a fantastic ingredient for a mixed drink. And with a taste like that, it's hard to disagree. If you're looking for a sweet gin to enjoy as a cheeky tipple or to give as a gift, this is sure to brighten the day of anyone who gives it a taste.
