WHAT OUR RESIDENT GINSARIAN SAYS:

I've been wowed again by this exquisitely designed gin. It's only been a few days since I tried its sister, Isle of Wight Distillery's Mermaid Gin but the fantastically scaled bottle has me staring at it once more. This time, of course, it's a pink gin, so the bottle reminds me more of a salmon than its predecessor, which made me think of a mermaid, but that's besides the point.

Much like the original Mermaid Gin, this is made using the same Isle of Wight rock samphire, which only grows in the UK, with lemon and other such botanicals. However, this time the ensemble cast is joined by none other than Island strawberries - so of course, that was how I enjoyed it, a healthy J&T garnished with some fresh strawberries. Iced, of course.

To taste, this gin is a luxury juxtaposition. While strongly tasting of strawberry, subtle spice from the juniper and what I believe was coriander become impossible to ignore - they add a delicious kick to what would otherwise be a deliciously sweet, yet monotonous, beverage. There's definitely notes of the samphire, leading to a sensation reminiscent of my days by the coast (those days are still ongoing though, considering I live here).

In short, whilst its predecessor focused more on the coastal aspect of its flavour, this pink gin brings a deliciously sweet tone to the table, which is sure to delight any fans of pink gin. Feel free to view our range of Isle of Wight Distillery gins.
