Righto, let's get straight to it, the 41% Achroous Flagship gin, created by the Edinburgh based James Porteous from the brilliantly named Electric Spirit Company and his shockingly gorgeous bottle from our February 2023 Gin Club.
James started his journey in 2014 using a tiny ten litre glass still and is today a multi award winning gin distiller that was named as one of the top ten gins in the entire world at IWSC in 2019. I can only say the praise is more than well-deserved as the gin is an absolute delight.
It has a herbal and complex nose with a zingy sichuan peppercorn and fruity fennel seed palate that has real staying power and intensity before it finds way back to that oh so familiar juniper taste we all love. We just adore it and gosh, that bottle, what a master class in design and distilling combined, a massive well-done James, and thank you for sharing your gin with us, it’s one of the best.
