Though not particularly a cat person myself I'm up to get along with this Wildcat London dry that was featured in our (August 2020 Gin Club).
Despite the intimidating name and meaning behind it that made me hesitant to try it, I shrugged off the scratches like you would with any cat and am fully prepared to get right into it.
While being presented in a slim but tall bottle is nothing particularly special, opening it reveals a spicy front-loaded citrus and juniper scent which took over the air around me in a forceful yet delightful way - perhaps an omen that there are no black cats wandering around. With this Gin being specifically designed for mixing I decided a simple G&T should do the job. Coming in fast with citrus flavours and the aptly named cats claw botanical that added a subtle spice to the already forward flavours before finally mellowing out into light juniper notes.
Cat's out of the bag now so what's my final verdict? While not a fan of Gins that are too front-loaded with flavour I personally find this one is acceptable. With the right mixers and garnishes the tones can easily be mellowed down into something anyone can enjoy as their own personalised Wildcat Gin experience.
