This month we are off to the Lincolnshire Wolds and the rather magnificent South Ormsby Estate, home of Burrell's Dry Gin from South Ormsby Estate. The name comes from Charles Burrell Massingberd, one of the colourful characters in the estate's long history, and from the moment you pick up the bottle there is a real sense that this is a gin with a story behind it.

In the glass it is a proper dry gin, with plenty of juniper at its heart and fresh citrus coming through alongside softer herbal and floral notes. It is crisp and refreshing with just enough complexity to keep you going back for another sip, but without losing that classic gin character that I always look for in a good G&T.

For me, Burrell's is one of those lovely discoveries where the place, the history and the gin all seem to belong together. It is elegant without being fussy, full of character without trying too hard and, most importantly, makes a cracking G&T. Pour generously, add a good tonic and raise a glass to old Mr Burrell - I think he would rather approve.
