This month we are off to the English Riviera and the rather lovely village of Cockington, just outside Torquay, where the Torbay Distilling Company have created their rather striking Torbay Devon Dry Gin. At 42% it is a proper dry gin, but there's something else you'll notice before you've even taken a sip - it's blue! That's thanks to butterfly pea flowers, with the colour rather fittingly echoing the blue waters of the South Devon coast.

Juniper and coriander give it that familiar dry gin backbone, joined by liquorice, locally grown thyme, orange and lime, and even South Devon sea spaghetti from the local coastline. The result is herbaceous and slightly earthy, with plenty of citrus freshness and a lovely smooth finish. Add tonic and the fun really starts, as that beautiful blue begins changing through violet towards pink right there in your glass.

For me, this is a gin that manages to have a little bit of theatre without relying on it. Behind the colour is a seriously good Devon Dry that even picked up an IWSC Gold for Gin & Tonic in 2023. Serve it with a Mediterranean tonic and a slice of lime and you've got the English Riviera in a glass - blue sea in the bottle, a Devon sunset in your G&T. I absolutely love it.
